Sweeta Beharry – Programme Officer

Sweeta Beharry is an environmental management professional and a graduate of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management and a Minor in Zoology in 2015.

With over nine years of experience in community outreach, administration, and project management within the non-profit and NGO sector, Sweeta has developed strong expertise in programme coordination, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building initiatives.

She currently serves as Programme Officer at the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA), where she supports project implementation, partnership development, knowledge management, and regional water sector initiatives. In this role, she works closely with stakeholders to strengthen project delivery and advance the Association’s strategic objectives.

Prior to joining CWWA, Sweeta held several roles with the Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago, where she managed projects, coordinated community outreach on gender-based violence, supervised programme teams, and prepared technical and financial reports for funders and management. She also gained technical experience with the Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, supporting environmental research and stakeholder coordination.

Sweeta is passionate about sustainability, capacity building, and reducing social and environmental vulnerabilities, and she is committed to fostering partnerships and advancing initiatives that contribute to resilient and sustainable communities.
